Ok the Volt is key for us all in NA. It is in fact creating a new segment and leapfrogging traditional hybrids. Good question. I put Karl Stracke in behind me here as VP of Veh Eng Globally. He is from Opel and one of the best eng guys ever--so he will help us raise the bar even further in how we knit Opel and everyone together to kick it. So, Opel is a really really good set of engineers that will add to our vehicles throughout the world, and they can again put the Opel DNA back into the local brand products in Europe.

Great question. Young folks like my kids have zero nostalgia--and i know that. At the same time, some of what made a Buick great is not all bad--but not known--I dont want to repeat old marketing stuff--it just in not relavant--the Buick stuff I said was just for fun. HOWEVER--we need to get the younger folks buying us again--as you would think. So,---HOT DESIGN is the beginning of bringing them to interest in the car--the first LaCrosse sold was a 33 yr old--a step in the right direction--but the 20 year olds need to have confidence in the car--it is a lot of money-- a high percent of disposal income--for young folks to spend--and I know when I bought my first car I want a piece of mind of what I buy--quality, safety, service, veh perfomance---you get the idea----so we will go to work on it.

Jeff, thanks for your question regarding Pontiac. The wind down process is progressing very smoothly and in fact we only have about 7900 remaining Pontiacs so for all the Pontiac fans, it's time to visit one of our Dealers. Pontiac is a great brand with a loyal customer base. Unfortunately we were unable to keep Pontiac - it just wasn't profitable.

Johnathan Wills - We aren't going to make any announcements today regarding Hybrids for Buick but we believe we need to provide Hybrid alternatives for all of our core brands - more to come, stay tuned. In terms of the Buick compact crossover which we decided to cancel - this is a perfect example of the new GM at work. Customers, Media and our own team members were clear that this product did not live up to the standards of a "new class of world class" for Buick. So, in the end we listened and we responded with SPEED.

It is the responsibility of my team to address the not so good dealers and either help improve their performance or the market will decide for them. Consumers perceptions are exceptionally important - we are taking this seriously and need to improve in this area.

Alex - yes the focus has to be on the four brands. The plan for GMC is to continue with our Engineering Excellence driven by our "Professional Grade" positioning. We have a very strong brand in GMC and we plan to leverage and expand GMC's role as evidenced by the launch of the new GMC Terrain. Both the Terrain and Acadia are bringing women and conquest buyers which is very exciting for us.

Need 300% tõusud on siiski võrdlus üleeelmise aasta Detsembriga aga meenutame, milline nägi välja üleeelmise aasta Detsember autotootjatele? GM on möödunud aastal teinud põhiliselt reklaame, mille sisuks on: "Ahoi Joe, me oleme olemas, alles!" Hummeritest pidi olema olemas küllaldane laovaru, mistõttu pole mõtet liini töös hoida. Olemasolevad Hummerid müüakse maha läbi seniste müügikanalite.
Ford teatas täna, et ta oli nr. 2 Euroopas 2009. aastal.

Ajakiri MotorTrend kirjutab täna kuidas Sergio Marchionne on leidnud viisi kuidas värskendada Chrysleri mudelivalikut. Selleks tuleb võtta Chrysler Sebring, asendada salongi sisu kõvad plastikud pehmega (mainitakse Dodge Rami nahaga katmist), seejärel nimetatakse Sebring järgmise sammuna ümber millekski muuks ja ongi uus auto valmis laineid lööma.

Närviline nädalalõpp. Ligikaudu 800 Chrysleri ja General Motorsi edasimüüjat vaidlustavad enda kinnipaneku. General Motors teavitas Mais 2009 1300 edasimüüjat, et nad oma poe Oktoobriks kinni paneks, ülejäänud 700 said korralduse teha osaline "partial wind-down", ehk oma tootevalikut kärpida. Chevrolet truckide reklaamiga hakkab tegelema Maria Rohrer. Uudisväärtus seisneb selles, et sama naine kogus tuntust Volt Dance nimelise esitlusega Los Angeles autoshowl. Volt Dance`i peetakse üleüldiselt napakaks ja väga halva rutiiniga etteasteks, mis kogus kiiresti youtubes sadu tuhandeid vaatamisi ja twitteris säutsumist. Kuna ükski teine autokompanii showl oma elektriauto rohelisust tantsu läbi ei tutvustanud, peetakse "Voldi tantsu" piinlikuks. GM selgitas hiljem, et etteaste oligi mõeldud 7-12 lastele.

Nädalavahetusel said neli 2010. aasta GMC autot sisse iga aastasesse Best Buy ja Recommended Award listi. Acadia ja Yukon said peaauhinnana tiitli Best Buy keskklassi ja suurte SUV-ide klassis, Terrain ja Sierra said nimetuse Recommended Award keskklassi ja suuremate pikapide klassis.
Buicki autodest said Best Buy ja Recommended Award auhinna 2010 Buick LaCrosse ja Enclave.

Ed Whitacre jätkab
Nädalaalguse peauudis. Ed Whitacre teatas jätkamisest GM peadirektorina. Teatavasti täitis Whitacre ajutiselt CEO kohuseid kuni pidi leitama uus CEO. 60 päeva kestnud otsinguperioodi jooksul otsustas aktsionäride nõukogu teha Whitacrele ettepanku jätkamiseks, mille viimane ka vastu võttis. Lühikese pressikonverentsi käigus ei antud täiendavat infot võimaliku Spyker Cars/SAAB diili kohta. Whitacre ütles küll, et läbirääkimised käivad kuid lisas: "We do not have a deal to announce this morning".
Chrysler Group Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) tähistab 10. juubelit
Vahelduseks räägime täna Chryslerist. Chrysler ja elektriautod? Tuleb üllatusena? Teadsid Voltist ja Teslast, nüüd on aeg teha tutvust GEM-iga. GEM - Global Electric Motorcars on müünud rohkem kui 40 000 elektrisõidukit, säästnud rohkem kui 19,5 miljonit gallonit kütust, vähendanud CO2 emissioone rohkem kui 93,000 tonni. Ja seda juba 10 aastat, ehk täna peaks tegu olema suisa juubeliga.
Klassifitseeritud USA liiklusohutuseameti poolt kui aeglane sõiduk ehk Low Speed Vehicles (LSV) või Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV), on GEM oma 25-30 miilise tippsõidukiirusega legaalne enamikes osariikides teedel kus suurimaks lubatuks sõidukiiruseks on 35 miili või vähem. Sellised akudel sõitvad liikurid on parimad lühikesteks transpordiotsadeks ja leiavad tihti kasutust meditsiini- ja ülikoolilinnakutes, sõjaväebaasides, kuurortides, staadionitel, aedikutes ja elamurajoonides. Ühesõnaga paikades, kus tossates, mürisedes, pori pritsides, vaod järel tee otsimine pole eelduseks.
GEM elektrisõidukid on saada kuues variandis, mida omakorda on võimalik täiendada eri optsioonidega. Kulutades vaid 2 senti miili kohta, on GEM-id muutunud arvestatavaks transpordialternatiiviks.
Global Electric Motorcars on Chrysleri osa alates 2000. aastast. Osta on võimalik valitud Chrysler, Dodge ja Jeep esindustest.
Teine uudis. GM investeerib $246 miljonit Baltimores asuvasse tehasesse, mis hakkab 2013. aastal tootma Ameerikas disainitud ja toodetud elektrimootoreid tagaveolistele autodele. Tegu on esimese USA-s asuva suure autotootja elektrimootorite tehasega.
