Pontiac'i 400cid mootor = perspektiivitu?

Pontiac (big and small block):
Rear-mounted distributor.
Six bolts in bellhousing.
Valve covers have rounded ends and are held on with four bolts.
Used the same block for all engines, from the 326 through the 455. The 301 is a lower-deck version of the same block.
SB Chevy:
Five bolts holding transmission bellhousing to block, including one at the top center of the bellhousing.

"...ja kas on mõtet selle modimisega jännata? "
400cid > 350cid Ise mõtle...

Pontiaci vanemad ja suuremad mootorid peaks vist jah asised olema, ja kui lugeda ülaltoodut, siis võiks ju lausa öelda:
455 CID > 400 CID > 350 CID |

Aasta '78 Pontiac T/A 4speed manual, 400cid - 200hp
Kas keegi oskab öelda milline neist mootoritest on parem?
350cid Pontiac, 350cid Chevy, 350cid Buick või 350cid Olds.

350cid Pontiac, 350cid Chevy, 350cid Buick või 350cid Olds.
Similarities: Other GM Engines
.....Chevy's are bigger and heavier than comparable CID Olds engines since they used very little nickel in the cast iron. Nickel is a expensive strengthening agent for cast iron. Low quality iron requires mass in order to make it stronger, which is why you will see the physical weight and size difference.
I hope you don't think that 4 bolt mains were put in Chevy engines so that they would be "Ultra-Strong" for the performance enthusiast. This is simply not true, they are there because the iron requires strength to keep the cap in place and 2 bolts in mush is not as good as 4 bolts in mush.
Oldsmobile blocks aren't made of mush, rather, they are made of high quality cast iron with plenty of nickel to make it strong. Olds big block engines were cast with extremely high nickel content until mid 1970...... In 1975 the nickel content was lowered even more.....

Samast veel oldsi 350 kohta:
1977 - 1980: Large combustion chambers, small ports, EGR, low compression. They did, however, have ½" head bolts (in common with the 403's and diesel 350's), though the windowed mains on the block make these the weakest engines to start a performance rebuild from. In reality, however, you're not likely to blow out the bottom end of this motor on the street below 6000 RPM.

Kogenumad spetsid USA-s väidavad et Oldsi 350 diisli blokki (Hilisem DX tähistusega)kasutades saaks väga kõva bensumootori. Kasutama peab BB vänta (suured main'id)ja puurida saab kuni 451ci kanti
"The 350 diesel block with a 425 crank and the stock bore size block (4.057") will yield a bulletproof 411 CID small block. The 350 diesel block can be safely overbored .125" without sonic testing, to make a 437 CID small block. The 350 diesel block can be bored out to 4.25" when sonic tested. With a shaved down 425 crank and a 3.975 stroke, that works out to 451 cubic inches. "
