Kokkuvõtteks võib öelda, et me siiski anname endast parima tagamaks ajavõtu toimivus tulevastel võistlustel.

Surm ja maksud on 100% tõenäoline.;)

Loodetavasti tuleb hea üritus ja kiire usaraua huvilised peaks kindlasti oma tagumiku kohale vedama, nagu jyrki mainis tuleb kohale üks vägagi valus aparaat.

OT: 100%..

Three things are certain
Death, taxes, and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

Hopefully the weather will be OK, the traction will be good and the timing equipment will work perfectly. There should be at least four cars coming from here and propably the most interesting will be Janne Korpelas TT Hornet. On a good track it should be able to run 9's easy, the cars record is 9.1/245.
Jussi run 10.4's last weekend with his Valiant with an untested engine and chassis in his new Valiant.
Seppo has run 11.7's earlier this summer with his 355 Nova.
Pecos Dart is still without the engine, but hopefully he'll get it together in time. It's a '66 Dart with a 340 engine, but I think it will not be that impressive performance wise since there is still a lot to hope for in the drivetrain/tire department.
Kartsa also threatened to take his 3rd gen. Camaro with him, if it gets ready in time.
If someone has problems and can't make it I will propably take my Dart there too.

Well, we have placed an order for sunny weather to weahterman, so the weather should be ok ;).
On the track, we will try the "tire rubbing" concept on the first 60 feet, hoping that this will give better traction than plain concrete surface.
As of timing equipment, even if it works it is still a first test of can it catch a car running faster than 220 km/h or not.

The guys asked if there is water available at the race track, and if it's possible to buy ice cubes somewhere in Tartu? Their Hornet consumes 15 liters of icewater per run.

Yes it is possible to buy ice from Statoil or from supermarket. It's in plastic bags, so you need cool boxes to store it.

Meelis said they will bring enough water.

At least last time there was a big barrel of water between the lanes - things are improving :) . Did not had to run too far with the bucket. :p

It was't clean though, probably the empty barrel had "natural" debris in it. But anyway, clean water will be available from the tap under the rear bumper of a big bus, which will most likely be near the starting line.

The distance betwenn the burn out place and the starting line has to be big enough so that the tires do not carry water to the line. There are good instructions about doing burnout in the TQHQ pages, but I'll tell what on my opinion is important.

The water is there only to allow the tires to start spinning easier and to avoid hit in the drivetrain, the intention is not to wash the tires in the water but to heat them. So not much water is needed; if you need a lot of water to be able to do a burnout you don't need a burnout at all.

Usually there is only a little water in the ground and you drive a little through the water before starting the burnout. The tires will push slightly water in front of them and that's all that is needed to get the tires loose easy. If you do it in the water the tires will throw it all over your wheelwells and it will drip down to the tires when you drive to the starting line and only make the traction worse, both to you and your fellow competitors.

I usually do the burnout starting in second gear and shifting immediately to third and wind the engine to about 6000 rpm. Only a couple of seconds is all my tires need to get them warm. You like to get the tirespeed high quickly because otherwise the car does not like to stay straight, turning sideways. Smokey burnouts are more for show than go.

Once the tires are warm enough I release the brake and let the car go ahead letting the throttle off slowly. If you want, you can check the traction by doing a small "dry hop" before the starting line, then you should know to which position you can press the gas pedal without loosing traction or find the proper launch rpm.

And perhaps the most important thing, the race tires need heat to work at their best but regular street tires do not. If you heat them they will become more slippery and your times will be worse. No matter how this feels, this has been measured and tried numerous times and is the truth.
